I mean I love that. Electric guitar vs Spin jockey banjo music battle. Swapping between playing music and clashing their instruments together ala rocking sword fight. Or axe vs chainsaw fight. Since Max's guitar sprouts axe blades at the body so his axe is literally and musically an axe.

And they go all out musically. Electric guitar just wins this round with a wicked guitar solo.

ADDENDUM: all while flirting. Max would very much use the line that he'd love to crawl into that TV screen and make out with that electric purple tongue any day.

E'kayan is... surprisingly strong and has faced 'gods' before. He would have been escalating his power output for each opponent and Max is going to get the full Warrior of Light experience once E'kayan realises what he's dealing with.

There might be a sense that he's holding back like he doesn't want to hurt Max. At least at first.

Max would call out the holding back during the fight and say E'Kayan has to go all out because someone has to feel his full strength. And state he wants to see it, regardless of if it hurts.

Bring it on, Warrior or Light. Show the King of Corruption what you got!

Max's main fighting style is his Autumn powers, tentacles, music and sound based attacks, and shards of glass he throws and spikes out of himself to fight with.

Kayan's would be mostly his (level 100) Summoner abilities along with his winter powers.

He's surprisingly hardy for a little guy and can take a lot of damage. Once took an entire city grid's worth of lightning aspected aether and it just dropped him to one knee.

Very nice. Max is no stranger to pain. He's had pieces of himself torn open and parts of himself consumed while trapped in an alternate dimension.

In the end, E'Kayan holding out longer and getting that final blow to KO an exhausted god sounds pretty cool to me. Epic battle and he is truly the last Ultima Champion standing. Thoughts?

Good to finally meet you, Max! Sho(u)to would go all-out from the start (I've tried to list his powers here-) so he can say he gave his all! He's underestimating no one...

So many cool powers. Max's powers, being more Fae like, I have yet to write them all down. But he's good at music and sound manipulation, has access to tentacle limbs, and his powers generate shards of glass out of his body that he can use as melee weapons.

He also has access to Dread Powers from Chronicles of Darkness listed here and Fae Contracts.

So this battle is going to be such a big opening fight.

Yuzuki Tournament Plotting

I'd prefer to handwave if at all possible; fight scenes are not my forte lmao. LET'S PLOT SOME COOL STUFF THO.

Yuzuki is still relatively new-ish to Ellipsa, but in his OCverse he's one hell of a powerhouse. I ... have not written up his abilities fully, oops

TL;DR AHOY

Highly skilled assassin with "could punch through mountains if he wanted to" levels of strength, with endurance, speed, etc to match. Functionally immortal! He can be hurt, but it's hard to make it stick.

Master of shadow magic (/he kind of is a shadow? It's Complicated): he can create them, manipulate them, talk to and understand them, travel through them, become one himself, weave them into objects, make clones and avatars; all kinds of things! He's got a generous handful of other magics up his sleeve as well — light, glamourie, illusions, concealment, shapeshifting, telepathy, mindreading, dreamwalking, and a low-key affinity for water.

Ridiculously powerful hearing. If he lets himself (i.e. doesn't use noise cancellation magic), he can hear pretty much anything and everything. Super useful, especially in his line of work! But it's also something of a nightmare, and it can be used against him.

Welp, Jinu got an unfortunate match up. He likely did try to confuse him with teleporting around or even singing to try and put him in a trance, but the power gap was too big. here are some other abilities to play with.

I forgot to Yuzuki's whole thing with music-based magic, which is both very new to him and intrinsic to who and what he is -- a starsinger dragon (sparkly space dragons who can hear/sing along with the melodies of the universe, and use them to weave magic).

Yuzuki can't do all that much with it yet, but he IS a phenomenal singer who loves to dance. I think he'd be pretty delighted to find out what Jinu can do!

hi five for functionally immortal powerhouses in their own universes!! chipp's got all kinds of weird shit going on (plasma/electricity control, metal control, rapid healing, superhuman strength, and The Aforementioned Sound Magic:tm:, he's also just generally hard to predict because this boy ain't right and his brain ain't normal) and unfortunately for yuzuki, he's got no qualms using spin jockey as, yknow, an actual instrument in battle
he actually does so in universe, he's got boss music and it's 100% diegetic

he mostly uses spin jockey as a giant buzzsaw and/or fucked up segway of course, but like, if he can win by playing a sick (and deadly) riff on his stupid tesla coil-tombstone-banjo, he absolutely will!!!

SPARKLES INTENSIFY

So, fun facts about Yuzuki I somehow forgot to talk about in my top-level! Until very (VERY) recently he had no idea that he is, in fact, (KIND OF) (partially) a fancy musical space dragon, AKA a Starsinger. Their whole deal is being able to hear, sing, and weave magic with the Universal Melody - there's a bit of info about it here. He is INCREDIBLY new to it and can't do much with it yet, so it's not strictly relevant here. BUT. Your comment about Chipp's boss battle music got me 👀 👀

ANYWAY

Yuzuki's a born performer who loves a good fight, and I'm thinking the overall vibe of this match could be intense, but like, playful in a way? He'd absolutely make Chipp work for the win, even as he's using glamourie to hide his ears bleeding.

Maybe Chipp could get the impression that Yuzuki was keeping some of his claws sheathed? He's got absolutely no qualms about fighting dirty, brutal violence, etc etc, but there's a time and a place for bloodbaths.

P.S he's a huge tech nerd who LOVES to tinker, how does Chipp feel about talkin' tech mid-fight

Gintoki's season powers are here.

His weapon of choice for the tournaments where that apply is his wooden sword. If his opponent is enough of a hassle he also has a water elemental sword that he keeps charged and he'll use that in his off-hand. He's a double wielder. He's also a fan of picking up any weapons available, in case someone happens to bring a whole armoury with them.

Oh and Gintoki will also boo all Hijikata's victories.

Gosh, this was so much fun to participate in and look at! Although neither of my boys made it past the second round, I am happy to either hand-wave or play out the results of the fights they faced!

Cho Hakkai
Hakkai was just happy to participate and probably wasn't trying too hard in this competition, since he was mostly fighting for funsies. Probably for the better, as despite his bookworm appearance, he's secretly a powerful youkai with a canonically bare-handed kill-count in the thousands and has fought century-old demon kings and a war god (he lost that one, but he lived!) But that makes sense, as he prefers to keep his human disguise on, thanks.

But knowing he hates going all out when he doesn't have to, I imagine he played it pretty light in the hand-to-hand tournament. And in the Ultima cup, he probably only kept it to his chi-blasts and what few spring elemental powers he knows instead of relying on any of his youkai abilities.

But yeah, absolutely willing to plot with:

Nie Mingjue

Mingjue is not taking his loss in this competition well at all. He's one of those Chinese Sword Cultivators, but not only is he just a cultivator, but he is also the Master of one of the five most powerful sects in his world, as well as the second strongest martial character in his canon. He is the representative and trainer of the Nie saber technique, a type of sword cultivation that's been passed down through his family for centuries, and he takes it very seriously. 😂 His sword style and his pride in it are practically 70% of his personality and rules his life. So losing in the first round to the person in the Blade Cup who wins the championship is going to be a huge blow to his morale.

I'm pretty certain that's what winds up making him lose in the first round of the Seasonal Cup, second round of the Ultima Cup as well. He's still new to picking up his seasonal powers, and although he seems to have more of a knack for it than Hakkai, losing the Blade Cup first is probably making him lose faith in all the rest of his competitions. I 100% imagine he beat Hijikata in the first round of the Ultima Cup purely because Hijikata felt bad for him (because I know Hiji has much stronger powers than him overall), only for him to immediately lose the next round.

Hihi! I'm canon familiar with Mukukro and super curious about how she's been fairing here in Ellipsa!

Also, I feel that Hakkai and her are actually a pretty decent first match, given their survivalist wartime hand-to-hand combat methods.

My question for you is, if Hakkai went pretty even with her, only to hold back on the end, would she notice? Mainly, as they're pretty even in experience, his one advantage is superhuman strength. I have a feeling that's probably what would stop them short of actually murdering one another on the field, since I know they can both be pretty relentless and have no qualms with the concept of murder. (Hello, fellow emotionally broken survivor with a dubious sister complex)

In terms of non-season powers, he has horns for jabbing, a lamprey-like jaw of razor-sharp teeth for chomping, worm-digging skills, a cornered rat's street fighting sensibility, and he can turn into a kaiju-sized worm-caterpillar. His favorite move in giant chaos worm mode? Slinging his head and bashing it like a fuzzy flail.

I'm all for writing out the combat, but if you wanna handwave be my guest!
