Player Plot - Taking Down the Hearts Gang

Part interest check, part plotting!

Sylus is a crime lord where he comes from, the unchallenged leader of an entire district that serves as a hub for crime, illicit trade, experimental research, and is strictly off-limits to civilians. Since he arrived in Ellipsa he has been taking the measure of the Underground and crime gangs here and for the most part has found them wanting. He's unimpressed and hasn't found it difficult to make a name for himself with them and around the Casino and Underground Mall.

One of the four 'suits' gangs has caught his attention, however, in a way that the others haven't. He finds the operations of the Hearts gang to be something more than worthy of complete eradication (we don't approve of human experiments in this house) and has decided to finally make a move on doing something about that.

While this could be something he could probably accomplish by himself, that wouldn't be any fun. So I'm trying to open it up to other people being involved as much as possible.

Around the 7th of February Sylus will put up a network post declaring his intentions. This will be the 'in' for characters who want to come along to do anything from making a lot of noise to outright sabotage and combat, though Sylus will be reserving dealing with the head of the snake for himself. He does intend to just cut said head off (this means murder). I'm open to having him persuaded to not do a lot of murders but if anyone wants to try we'd probably have to talk it through as he definitely sees this as the easiest way to solve the problem.

Once the Hearts gang is dealt with their base will be open for examination and retrieval of any research/subjects they didn't dispose of on their way out. While they won't be utterly destroyed they will be greatly reduced in number and on the run, and won't be making any kind of comeback for a while.

Sylus himself won't be taking over the gang or any existing one, but after this is likely to be starting his own (name pending). I'd look to put a log up for the actual raid around the 9th, with an aim to have everything ICly resolved before the TDM goes up on the 13th.

TL;DR

  • Sylus is going to take down the Hearts gang because they're awful and will be opening the floor for cannon fodder assistance.

I love this plot and everything involved.

I have two characters who would definitely be involved. First is Evil Morty. He works with the Underground gangs and with his dubious morals, he would definitely sign up to help Sylus take down the gang. Though his motives will be to steal the research left behind as well as try to gather the remnants of the Hearts Gang to try and claim that leadership spot.

Best way to get these guys to follow him is to save them, of course. Though he'd focus on grunts and middle men since the head has to be cut off and is that is better for his own plans.

Also Lycaon works as a Clubs Gang cleaner. So hearing the intentions, he would ask the Clubs Gang if they want to stop this or let it happen. And offer his services to Sylus on the downlow to help clean up any evidence of this gang war to keep the police off his trail.

Lycaon will try to convince Sylus that not killing the leaders and delivering them to the police is just as effective and a more moral way to handle this.

Megumi's been wanting to deal with some of the gang stuff for a bit now so I'd definitely be interested in having her hop in on this?

She's not exactly the smartest person, but she is very much someone who wouldn't want people killed so if she finds out about it somehow she might start a fight??? Obviously, I'm down for p. much anything with her as long as she doesn't get straight up killed herself -- i.e having her pulled back so that the head gets killed regardless, etc. I'm pretty much willing to work with a lot of stuff to help make things fun for everyone.

I'm not yet 100% sure whether any of mine will take part but here's some possibilities!


1) Katsura has been scoping out the gangs for months and also complaining that the PD knows where they're operating and is doing nothing, so he'd probably be pleased that someone is doing something. He would be most interested in blowing up their supplies to further inhibit their operations, though that might leave less stuff to loot...

He would however be opposed to A Lot Of Murders but also depending how despicable and/or inconvenient people are sometimes they just deserve to die (cough Shinsengumi cough) 🤷 So he'd likely try to argue for more logistical/financial sort of destruction, while keeping people alive, but might back off it it's getting nowhere, especially since it doesn't look like police is reliable in handling them.


2) Levi has made something of a name for himself too (more like once he walked into the Hearts' hangout and broke a bunch of fingers because he blamed them for his impromptu animal transformation (THANKS HIJIKATA) and then got assassins sent after him that he uhhh assassinated) but he's not involved in anything aside from the gangs knowing to leave him alone as long as he stays out of the casino at this point. It could be funny to make them freak out some extra amount if he showed up though.

He also generally opposes murder (unless there's a good reason for it) and I haven't yet figured out what exactly he would think of the Hearts gang. On one hand, lower rank members might be in it to survive or feed their families, so if they turn tail and run, he might refuse to let anyone pick them off once they're no longer a threat. On another hand, stuff like human trafficking is on his big "no, kill on sight" list and I feel like human experimentation might be close enough to that? In which case he might not be bothered and/or even help thin them out.

Farlan is definitely willing to help. He's not big on killing, but he won't start campaigning against it - he will just avoid situations where it's needed. He does agree it's probably the fastest way to deal with shit in the Underground.

He can and will offer healing services for anyone who does end up needing to fight and he can fight and restrain people, of course.

Ok so Zayne more than likely has seen victims of the Hearts gang in the hospital and can't help but be reminded of Xander Sciences and EVER (aka one of the Big Bad groups who causes Issues back in his universe), including all the stuff involving Carter and the X Heart which became the core part of the Rebirth Cocoon and overall first part of the Fountain of Atei.

There's also guilt there because he was the other person who worked on the X Heart in med school and seeing it being used for "human evolution" without his knowledge hurts. And pisses him off for a good reason.

So naturally, he would be up for getting rid of the problem at the source. But will he straight up do a murder? It...depends. He is someone who follows his Oath seriously but also knows when other options will not work (see his life experiences and if anyone has seen his memories in the Paths part of the recent event...yeah.)

If others are going, Zayne will be there as a medic (and disguised thank you mythological mask reward!) and also a second thing: ensuring that any research that can cause harm to the public gets destroyed. Also if anything involving the Rebirth Cocoon or X Heart is there, absolutely trashing and leaving no copies

He also won't try to convince Sylus to not do murder because he already knows telling him to do something means 'lol doing it anyway' and he knows about him being Onichiynus, given that everyone in the world knows that crossing them means death. It's out of his depth so he's not gonna try.

I'm interested in somehow getting Gintoki involved, which will happen automatically if Zura decides to get involved but might require a little more effort if not. His whole shtick in canon is basically that he gets dragged into all kinds of bs, both big and small, including yakuza business, because it starts as a job and then turns sort of personal.

So basically I dunno how yet but I'd be love to get him involved if I can! It might not even be all that difficult and kinda depends on how Sylus presents it in his announcement because he does not like the gangs but also doesn't trust Sylus lmao.

The fact they've done human experimentation opens the door for murder tbqh. Aventurine has luck on his side that may aid things, but also the fact that he could act as a shielder for anyone going in and is willing to shoot if needed. They're no better than The Scientist in this regard, so he wouldn't necessarily openly fuel the fire so to speak, but he'd offer what he can.

Plus, if anyone has been experimented on and begs for death, he'd also be willing to mercy kill 😔
